Fiona McEachern Sport Development Funding

The APF Sport Development Fund is named in honour of the late Fiona McEachern “Fi” - one of the most talented and passionate ambassadors for the sport of skydiving within the APF. An inspiring mentor and coach, Fiona’s illustrious career spanned 27 years and over 7,500 jumps, including 13 years as APF Director of Competitions. Fiona was a founding committee member and driving creative force behind the Sport Development Fund, being the first to recognise the need for a structured APF funding program that could support worthwhile skydiving initiatives.

About the Sport Development Funding Scheme

The APF wants you to be the best you can!

In addition to funding World Championship teams, the APF makes funding available to other events/projects and individuals. The availability depends on budgetary limits, which vary from year to year.

Please apply to your state council before seeking any of these grants, In most circumstances, no application will be considered at National level unless it has been to a State Council. Most councils have money set aside for encouraging local level development of the sport, either through special allocations or through the State Coach.

Criteria for every level of funding:

  • Recipients must be financial members of the APF, owing no debt to the Federation.
  • Applicants must identify why the funding would be consistent with the APF’s Strategic Plan.
  • Applications will ONLY be accepted on the completed APF Form, although applicants may attach separate pages to support their application.
  • The APF may attach conditions to grants. (In some cases, the funding may be paid after the event/project to ensure all conditions are met.)
  • Sport Development Funding will not be granted for Nationals, State Championships or normal DZ activities.
  • Funding will not normally be granted when the event/project date clashes with a previously announced date for a Nationals event/project in any discipline or a State Championship.
  • One application only per event/project regardless of different disciplines. (Organisers of boogies, competitions, or other events/projects, must ensure that a joint application is prepared if funding is being sought for different elements within their event/project)

Please contact the National Coach if you require assistance with your application.
