This insurance cover provided specific, tailored and affordable insurance cover for APF members and their Parachuting equipment and has been available to APF members since 1998.
CGU, the insurance provider of the Gear Insurance policy, have notified that they are no longer able to continue to provide this insurance cover due to a change in their underwriting guidelines and as a result this insurance product will not be available to members after 30 June 2013.
Whilst other insurers provide insurance for portable personal property, they do not offer any cover on sporting equipment whilst in use. The unique benefit of the CGU policy was that, not only did they provide a broad range of cover, but also extended to cover equipment whilst in use, via the “cutaway” endorsement. The APF is currently striving to obtain replacement insurance to provide the same policy benefits as before however CGU will process claims incurred until the expiry date of any individual policy as shown on the Certificate of Insurance.
Whilst this is a regrettable situation the APF is striving to obtain a replacement insurance to provide the same policy benefits as before. This process is well underway and all members will be advised upon securing a replacement provider.
