2011. Thank you to all members who have submitted applications
this year, we applaud you on your efforts to improve our sport!
Applications
for events scheduled for 2012 are now open and we encourage you to
apply as early as possible in the year to avoid disappointment.

Technicals, Safety and Rigging
From Vigil's FB page
" Vigil PSB-8 is an update that replaces our recent
PSB-7. Vigil PSB-8 includes better guidance and compliance
requirements, as well as expanded serial numbers to be checked for
October 07 cutters.
Only those cutters found with an OCT 07 manufacture date on the cutter
itself must be replaced. We have received some cutters with Sept and
Nov 07 dates. September and November 07 cutters would only require the
magnet test be performed. As always, please feel free to contact us
(Vigil) with any questions."

Although a small turnout,
the competitive spirit was running hot with Jeremy Langford, the State
Coaching Co-ordinator, doing a great job of coaching all the teams. The
whole competition was run out of a GA8 Tubo Airvan supplied by WA
skydiving Academy.
The winners were:

The Lee Irvine shield, awarded for the person or team
that personifies what the competition is all about, was awarded to the
Hillman Cidal Tendencies team. The special
Team Player award, of a new Dytter, donated by Skydive Kalbarri, was
awarded to Adam Easto.
A Big thank you to WA Skydiving Academy, Skydive Jurien
Bay, Southern Skydivers, Jeremy Langford & Airtite, Skydive
Kalbarri, the APF, the WAPC council and the staff and volunteers at
Hillman Farm who all gave assistance and support to make it a combined
DZ effort and a success for all WA jumpers.

Aussies in Arizona
An Australian contingent has
just completed an intensive FS training camp at Skydive Arizona. Two
Open FS 4way teams plus a few extra individuals
completed seven days of tunnel coaching plus jumping with ground
coaching.
The teams training were; WTFS (Greg Jack, Shirley Cowcher, Helen
Mahoney) and Valkyries (Kate Langley, Kate Rogers, Riss Anderson,
Michelle Hales), plus Ben Nordkamp, Allan Gray and Darren Forfar. The
teams were enthusiastically coached by Mark Kirkby and other members of
Arizona Airspeed and received a very warm welcome from all at the DZ.
As the
Aussies were leaving, Skydive AZ was getting ready for the US Nationals
and many teams from all over the world were arriving and warming up for
competition. Over 60 teams were expected to register for the event.

Certificate IV in Training & Assessment
Enrolments Still Open
The Certificate IV in Training & Assessment (TAE40110) is a
nationally recognised qualification for anyone who is operating in a
training and/or assessing capacity within their organisation, or anyone
wishing to become a lecturer at an Australian TAFE College.
With this in mind the APF is in the process of
having instructor training courses accredited with the Australian
Skills Qualifying Authority with the aim of becoming a Registered
Training Organisation (RTO). It is envisaged that with the
accreditation of the courses the APF may be able to issue:
Certificate III in Skydiving and Parachuting
Instruction Instructor
C
Certificate IV in Skydiving and Parachuting
Instruction Instructor
B
Diploma in Skydiving and Parachuting Instruction.
Instructor A
As part of this process future candidates for
Instructor A are encouraged to complete a TAE40110 Certificate IV in
Training and assessment. This can be accomplished as a body of work in
lieu of the thesis. Holders of current instructor ratings will receive
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) of up to 55% should they use Meta Dynamics, the
RTO working with the APF. For more information or to enrol in
their TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, click here.
Although there are other RTOs that offer this qualification, prices
vary as does the quality of the providers so choose carefully.
