R.I.P Nicole Hannan

It is with deep regret that we mourn the loss of APF member Nicole Hannan who suffered a fatal injury in a skydiving incident on the 27th February whilst participating in 40 way sequential skydives at Perris, California.

On behalf of all APF members we extend our deepest sympathies to her family and partner Greg, and all her many friends who knew her and loved her, she will be sadly missed by so many people.

 Director Competitions!

On behalf of the APF Board and Management Committee, we are delighted to announce the appointment of our new Director Competitions - Lisa Perdichizzi.  Lisa will also assume a position on the newly formed APF Management Committe.  Lisa has been involved in the sport for over 13 years, starting with Skydive Express in WA before moving to QLD 6 years ago.  Lisa is an experienced Skydiving competitor at state, national and world level and continues to develop the sport through instructing, coaching and involvement at Club level.  Her professional career has varied considerably with a vast background in management, accounting, administration, events coordination and marketing.

Additionally the APF Board and Mangement Committee have also appointed a Deputy Director Competitions and welcomes Kate Rogers to this new position.  Kate has been skydiving since 2002 and also has a strong competitive focus and a driving passion to develop others and to see competition flourish in Australia.

APF Awards

The Australian Parachute Federation has a number of awards available to recognise our highest achieving members. Whether it's in the sky, on the DZ, or at administrative level, we believe that those that make the most outstanding contributions to the sport should be honoured for their efforts.

Call for Nominations - the Tim Bates Award

The 'Tim Bates Award' - is an annual award recognising and rewarding an outstanding APF member for their passion, ability, input, excellence and contribution to the sport of Skydiving. Nominations are therefore being sought from any APF member and must be received by 5pm on 31 March 2010.  This award celebrates the spirit and skills of skydiver Tim Bates, who unexpectedly died from the effects of Diabetes in 2005. His family wished the Award to embrace the attributes that Tim brought to the Skydiving Sport.

The APF Service Award recognises outstanding contribution in the service of sport parachuting.

The APF Master of Sport Parachuting is the APF's highest honour, awarded in recognition of great personal achievement in any field of sport parachuting. It may only be awarded by a unanimous decision of the Board.

Honorary Life Membership of the APF recognises exemplary and outstanding service in any capacity. Nominations for these awards are assessed by Awards Validation Unit (AVU), then considered by the APF Board.

More on these awards, including who can make a nomination, how to prepare a nomination, who is the Awards Validation Unit, Awards Assessment Guidelines and the Nomination Form can be found on the APF web site.

For more information visit click here.

Nominations MUST be received at the APF Office by 5pm on 15 April 2011.
